Man arrested for allegedly shooting arrows at passing cars in Yorkshire village

A 68-year-old man has been detained under the Mental Health Act after a bow and arrow was fired at passing vehicles in a West Yorkshire village.Police were called to Huddersfield Road in Skelmanthorpe at about 5.37pm yesterday after receiving reports of a man acting erratically, including throwing rubbish and household items from a car while driving.Further calls were then received reporting that the man had got out of the vehicle and was firing a bow and arrow in the street and at passing vehicles.Armed officers were deployed, but the man was restrained by members of the public before police arrived.
