Katie Lam has slammed Labour's "totally inappropriate" plan to house 1,250 migrants in the tiny Oxfordshire village of Piddington.Speaking to GB News, the Conservative MP said the consequences for the community were "terribly sad" as local children sent heartfelt letters to Andy Burnham, pleading for the move not to go ahead.

The Prime Minister, who is currently on holiday, was urged to U-turn after it was revealed asylum seekers would be placed nearby at MoD Bicester barracks.

Piddington is home to just 250 adults and 46 children, meaning the migrant population could soon be more than double the number of local inhabitants.In response to the plans, children from the village have written letters to Mr Burnham sharing their love for Piddington and wishing for it not to change.

"I think it's terribly sad what they're suggesting and proposing doing to this village," Ms Lam said.
